1. Download CoachLens on the App Store

CoachLens is available on iPhone and iPad, and you can download it from the App Store using the link here.

2. Add your first video

Let's start by adding your first video to CoachLens. To add a video, go to the Home page on the app and tap the plus button on the top-right corner. You’ll now see a menu where you can choose how you’d like to import your video. We support three ways to import videos:

  • Recording videos from within the app

  • Importing videos from Photo Library

  • Importing videos from Files

3. Video Playback and controls

CoachLens supports the following video controls:

  • Play/Pause - Allows you to control video playback and pause the video to view and analyze a specific frame.

  • Mute switch - Allows you to mute audio from the video.

  • Slow motion - Allows you to follow along the video easily by playing it in slow motion.

  • Slider - Allows you to scrub smoothly within a video and reach a specific section quickly.

4. Record your analysis with voice

To record your analysis with voice, tap on the “Start Recording” button to start the screen recording. Once tapped, you’ll see a menu asking you to allow the necessary permissions required to begin the recording. If you’d like to add your voice to the recording, please make sure to allow microphone access in the permissions menu. Once you’ve granted the permissions, the recording will begin and you can start analyzing the video with your commentary.

To stop recording, tap on the "Stop Recording" button. Once the recording is stopped, you'll see a preview menu where you can share the recorded video with others or tap "Save" to save it to the Photo Library of your device.

5. Canvas and drawing tools

CoachLens provides a full-screen canvas where you can draw over the video to explain your ideas seamlessly. We’ve designed the canvas to be smooth and real-time, allowing you to see the drawings as you draw them, without any delays.

The canvas provides several drawing tools that serve different uses. Here’s a full list of supported drawing tools:

  • Freehand line: Handwrite or draw any freehand scribbles.

  • Straight line: Draw straight lines from one point to another.

  • Freehand arrow: A freehand line with an arrow ending. Ideal for presenting movements and directions.

  • Circle: Draw a perfect circle to highlight a specific area. To draw a circle, you can use a finger and drag across the screen or use two fingers to drag and zoom in or out over the area where you’d like to place the circle.

  • Rectangle: Draw a rectangle to highlight a specific area. To draw a rectangle, you can use a finger and drag across the screen or use two fingers to drag and zoom in or out over the area where you’d like to place the rectangle.

  • Angle: Calculate angles accurately. To measure an angle, drag your finger to create the first line of the angle and lift your finger once the line is drawn. Drag your finger again to create the second line of the angle. While you’re drawing the second line, you can view and adjust the angle value as needed.

  • Undo: Made a mistake? Use this tool to go a step back.

  • Redo: Bring back lines removed using Undo.

  • Clear: Clear all drawings on the canvas with a single tap.

Canvas supports zooming. Pinch over the canvas to zoom in or out.

To toggle drawing mode, simply tap on the pencil icon on the top-right corner. When drawing mode is on, the pencil icon turns green, the drawing tools are shown, and the ability to draw on the canvas is enabled.

 6. Pose Detection

When analyzing videos that include people performing poses, it becomes challenging to keep track of their body pose and movements, especially while the video is playing. Say hello to Pose Detection, an AI-powered tool that detects and places pose joints over the video automatically. To turn Pose Detection on, tap on the figure icon on the top-right corner. The figure icon turns green when Pose Detection is on. Once the app places pose joints, you can easily move them as well by simply tapping and dragging the specific pose joint dot.

7. Side By Side Mode

Side By Side Mode allows you to compare and analyze two videos simultaneously. This feature is only available on iPad. To turn this mode on, tap on the icon with two vertically stacked rectangles on the top-right corner. When this mode is turned on, the icon turns green, and the app layout switches from a single video to dual video style. The left side shows your original video, whereas the right side allows you to select the second video that you’d like to use for comparison. This mode provides individual progress bars for each video, making it easier to track the progress of individual videos and scrub through them efficiently.
